Abstract

Background: Decubitus is a disruption of skin integrity or local tissue necrosis that occurs due to pressure on the soft tissue between the bony prominences and the external surface over a long period of time. Objective: to determine the effectiveness of implementing bed rest in bed rest patients to reduce pressure ulcers. Method: A descriptive case study approach was carried out on 1 respondent with the criteria: clients who experienced bed rest and grade 2 or 3 decubitus wounds. The implementation of bed rest for 3 days was given to reduce pressure ulcers. Results: after implementing the bed shift for 3 days, the condition of the wound improved, and there was a reduction in decubitus wounds from grade 2 to grade 1 decubitus. Conclusion: after carrying out the case study for 3 days it can be concluded that the implementation of bed shift can reduce pressure ulcers in patient.
